Never want to miss another message or call? Technology is here for you -- on your wrist.
Smartwatches, building on the ingenuity of Google Glass, target the growing demand for "always on" connectivity that everyone expects today. You get the weather and news when you wake up, push notifications from your synced devices, and the ability to reply to messages instantly through voice recognition software.
In a business context, wearables can make accessing information and communicating easier. Many Lua users, for example, need to coordinate in real-time from any location. This could involve a noisy or distracting environment as that faced by the Super Bowl staff. Having vibrations on your wrist means you'll always be in the loop, boosting accountability and responsiveness -- never be the one holding back a conversation again!
Truly exciting for us here at Lua is Google's launch of the Android Wear software development kit. App developers anywhere can now bring their work to wearables. Jared, our Senior Android Engineer, has already started to tinker around: the latest version of our app in the Google Play store is wearables-compatible.
Some of the things Jared has been working on include replying through voice dictation to Lua messages, using Android's rich notifications to make sure the sender knows you've seen the message with Mark as Read or Confirm buttons, and having attached images come through on the watch's face.
We're adding to the momentum of the new business-on-wearables trend -- a trend which has even been covered by Forrester. This is just the first step for us: wearables are a part of our future, and Lua's ready! We know Lua on wearables still has a long way to go, but we're proud of our commitment to innovation and super hyped to see what else we can do with this new technology.
