For many workers- whether working in office or remote- conference calls are unavoidable and often take up more time than necessary. Some of this time is often wasted scheduling the call, circulating dial-ins or passcodes, and waiting for the right people to join. The process, which most workers can empathize with, is inefficient and often frustrating. With Lua this process is streamlined: companies taking advantage of Lua’s mobile messaging have already had access to this simple group calling, but today we are announcing some enhancements.
So, what exactly is available using Group Calling within Lua?
Immediate, Intuitive Connection to All Co-workers
In businesses today everything happens happens faster. There are opportunities for faster deals and less obstacles to collaboration, but the process for group calls is still time consuming and often distracting for many. A lot of companies - whether large, small, or somewhere in between- rely on legacy equipment or mobile phones to reach their co-workers.
Issues arise, however, because company wide contact information is not transparent in many companies. Figuring out the right number to call, whether it’s “John” from sales or “John” from marketing, or even simple errors of availability can cause a seemingly quick group call to take up a lot of your time. With Lua all of these communication pains are relieved by an organized and interactive people directory from which calls can be made immediately, and we’ve made this feature even easier to use.
Quick Escalation from a Message to a Call
Lua is designed to support the modern mobile workflow: we know that many conversations are worked out best over a group message, but what about when that conversation suddenly requires a call? With Lua you can make that happen instantly, just find the call icon in the top right hand corner of your group message. By choosing the call function you will be put on a phone call instantly with all necessary co-workers who will have all been invited at the same moment you tapped to call. Users receiving the group call invite will receive a push notification if they are outside of the app, and can swipe into it with one touch. Users already in Lua will receive a similar notification and can tap in right when the notification is received by accepting the call. No one in the entire group call will need a dial-in, passcode, or other conference information: they will join the conversation just by accepting (or starting) the call.
Let's look at this process even more specifically and how it will work, depending on whether you are the initiator or recipient of the call. Before formally beginning the call, initiators of group calls are prompted with a list of possible recipients and can choose to remove users that are either unavailable, in Do Not Disturb mode, or don't have a phone number. Once they choose who to involve and start the call, the initiator will automatically be dialed in themselves. The recipients are then notified of a new call via a push notification, and a group call specific ringtone. As previously noted, the recipients are then able to join the call directly from either the notification or later from the group conversation in Lua.
Call Notifications and Group Transparency
It is interesting to add that even when a user misses an initial call, they will still be presented with a push notification, and an option to join the call later if they want to or need to. In cases of missed calls, or late joining, the group calling process is intentionally transparent. Within the group message all users will be able to see the necessary timestamps of when the call started and when (or if) the call has ended.
How many calls can my staff conduct through Lua?
Lua does not limit the number of calls your staff can make: our communication solution was built for critical communication and we recognize that calls are a major aspect of business communication. Feel free to make as many calls as your organization needs to get the job done!
Do I need to provide coworkers with dial-ins or passcodes to initiate a conference call?
No, Lua allows you to instantly initiate a conference call with as many co-workers as necessary, without needing to circulate call information beforehand. All participants will receive an immediate notification to join the conference call and will know exactly which user initiated the call.
How many people can be on a Lua conference call at one time?
Lua can support up to 40 individual participants on a conference call.
While I am calling my coworkers, can other coworkers initiate separate calls?
Yes, Lua does not limit the number of ongoing calls that can take place simultaneously within your organization. Each user can only participate in a single call at any one time.
What happens if I miss a group call?
No need to worry! When a group call in Lua is initiated, a push notification is sent to the members. If you miss the initial notification, you can join while the call is in progress by swiping into the group.
