Now announcing VoIP!
Sometimes a discussion is better communicated over a phone call. Lua’s existing call feature allows for employees to call their coworkers when a message simply isn’t sufficient. But there are limitations when a coworker is using a mobile device with no phone number attached, or is in a cellular reception deadzone but has full internet connection. So we’re excited to introduce VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to Lua with increased functionality which helps resolve these limitations so you can now call your coworkers with even more ease.
Registered Lua users can now make or receive phone calls on all mobile devices with an Android or iOS system in place, with no cell number required. The option to make cellular calls is still there, you’re just no longer limited to it, ensuring you can always pick up the phone and call your coworkers when messaging won’t suffice.
International colleagues can now be reached via VoIP without exposing users to high international call charges. VoIP is more effective due to using a single network to carry voice and data.
How does VoIP work?
With VoIP, your calls are made over internet connection instead of the traditional analog phone line. Take a look below to see how VoIP will work for you and your coworkers in Lua.
As with our existing call feature, you can quickly initiate a call from within an individual or group conversation. Just find the call icon in the top right hand corner of the conversation and make a call happen instantly. By choosing the call function you will be put on a phone call instantly with all necessary coworkers who have been invited.
Users receiving the call will receive a push notification if they are outside the app, and swipe into it within one touch. Users already in Lua will receive a similar notification prompting them to either accept or ignore the call.
You can also easily initiate a call within the Group or People tabs by swiping left or clicking on the information symbol next to the group or individual name you wish to contact and then selecting the call button. Once the call is underway, you can end it with a single touch.
