One-way messages can be the best way to get an important announcement across to an entire organization. But organizations are complex, there are different departments and teams all operating with their own goals and deadlines. So what if you only want an announcement to go to a customized list of people? With Targeted Broadcasts any Lua admin can do just that and share critical knowledge with only the people who need it.
1. Customized Lists for Broadcasts
Admins will be able to create designated broadcast lists within the admin console. These lists are scalable and can be easily adjusted so that as your organization grows your broadcast lists can change with it. By creating separate lists for different types of employees (i.e. by location, role, or shift) broadcasts can now be more intentional.
2. Quickly Choose The List You Need
Creating a targeted broadcast is incredibly simple. Just create a new message in the broadcast tab, choose your targeted list (or “Everyone”) and share your alert immediately.
3. Transparent Broadcast Tab
Within your broadcast tab your entire broadcast feed is visible. Each individual broadcast shows the sender and the group the targeted broadcasts is intended for.
Targeted Broadcasts in Action
How can this product update affect a real organization? Let's look at it within, for example, a healthcare organization that depends on Lua for internal communication.
One of the most important aspects of targeted broadcasts is that it promotes more intentional sharing of critical alerts and announcements. Each employee in your healthcare organization is unique: they work in certain locations, might be a part of a specialized team, and of course belong to a very specific role within a given department. Each of these individuals depend on certain information to get their work done, but alerts that do not apply to them may interrupt their workflow. Targeted broadcasts solves this issue by allowing each employee to be apart of a designated list (or many lists) based on their role, location, or department. Scroll through some examples below that can help give you a better understanding of how various roles can benefit from targeted broadcasts.
Who has access to targeted broadcasts?
Access to targeted broadcasts is the same as the Everyone broadcast: only Lua users with broadcast permissions (“broadcasters”) will be able to send them.
What is different about targeted broadcasts?
Targeted broadcast access does not change from the sender side (an admin [Broadcaster]), the critical difference is who receives it. An broadcaster can choose to target the broadcast to everyone (comparable to a regular broadcast) or they can target a specific list. When a list is chosen only confirmed members of that list will receive the message, allowing your broadcast to be more focused and critical when necessary.
How will I choose which list of people I want to target with a broadcast?
Within the broadcast tab you will hit the “+” sign to create a new one-way message. You will immediately be prompted to choose either “everyone” or a different “list” to target. Imagine a list being a specific department or team. The lists can be created, customized and saved in the admin console.
How can an admin create designated broadcast lists?
Admins can create and manage broadcast lists from the admin console. Simply create the list name and then select the individual members or departments you want included in that targeted broadcast list.
How will I know which group the broadcast I receive is intended for?
The new user interface (UI) for broadcasts is very transparent. Within the broadcast tab you will be able to see all of your broadcasts in one feed, but each individual broadcast will show who it is from and which group the broadcast was intended for in the format Name to Targeted Group. Finding that targeted list name is easy- it is found at the top of each broadcast in red text.
Do targeted broadcasts have a confirmation option?
Yes you can add an additional confirmation button to your targeted broadcasts.
Can files and images still be attached to targeted broadcasts?
Yes. Targeted broadcasts have the same rich communication as regular messages and broadcasts.
